The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes

by B.S.

There is this girl Wanda and she gets teased because she said she had a hundred dresses.  The girls tease her every day.  Maddie feels bad about the teasing.  Wanda moves away.  Maddie and Peggy write to Wanda and find out she liked them anyway.

The author of this book was trying to say that if you tease people it will make you sad and you will always remember what you did so don't tease in the first place.

I liked the book because it made me think of how people are different and how we should always treat each other.  I have been teased about my name like Wanda was so I know how it feels and why you should not tease.

The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien

                                                                         by S.A.

In the first part the fellowship breaks up and Boromir dies. Then Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli get separated from Pippin and Merry and the two of them get captured by orcs and find out about the   urk-hai. After that a horseman troop called the Riders of Rohan destroy the orcs on the borders of Faghorn. The hobbits escape and meet Treebeard the Ent, secret Master of Faghorn. Meanwhile Aragorn and his companians met Eomer.

I liked this book.  It is the second book in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.  Now I have started reading the third book, Return of the King.

Hoot by Carl Hiaasen

                                                                       by MKR

Hoot is about a boy named Roy who sees a boy running past a bus stop and soon figures out that he is someone named Beatrice. He is supposed to be in school in another state but ran away and now lives in the woods only known by his stepsister Beatrice. Beatrice's brother named Mullet Fingers tries to stop a construction site to save a family of burrowing owls with babys. He is trying to stop it because if they bulldoze the sight they will bury the owls.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Our current read aloud is The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.  What has happened so far?  What do you think about Bilbo Baggins or the trolls or the dwarfs.  Do you like this type of book or do you not like this type of book.  What do you think will happen next?  Is Bilbo uncomfortable in this new adventure?  Will he grow to enjoy the adventure or not?

Then they find the Prancing Pony an Inn and then they meet Strider a mysterious fellow. Then they realize that Gandalf knows him and they take him along too.Strider leads them to Weathertop and they fight the ringwraiths and Frodo gets stabbed. Strider heals Frodo and reveals himself as a prince and that he has the broken sword which cut off Sauron's finger which held the power ring (which Frodo posseses).

The Two Towers by J. R. R. Tolkien

by D.W.
The Two Towers is the second part of The Lords of the Rings series. It's the book where all the battles begin. In The Two Towers the fellowship breaks up and Frodo and Sam run away. Merry and Pippin look for them and get captured by orcs. Aragorn,Glimi, and Legolas follow Merry and Pippin's trail.

Merry and Pippin wander into the forest known as Fangorn and meet the gaurdians of Fangorn known as Ents.  Ents are ancient race of tree people. Merry and Pippin convince the Ents to take Isengaurd from Saurman. While on Merry and Pippin's trail they meet the riders of Rhoan. They take them to King Thoedoen's castle, then they find out that the orcs are going to attack Helms Deep.Sam and Frodo attempt to get into Modor to destroy the ring in the Cracks of Doom. While they are looking they find Gollum and Gollum becomes their guide to Modor.

I recommend this book to people who like fantasy and action and also like long periods of conversation and explanation in books.
