Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare

Sign of the Beaver is about a boy and his dad left him alone in the forest for several months in Maine.  He meets an Indian named Attean and his tribe.  Attean teaches him lots of survival skills to survive in the wild.  His dad didn't come back for several months.  Attean asked Matt to join his tribe when they left but Matt (the boy) decided to stay and the dad came back.  Attean and Matt had a strong relationship even though they had different lives.  Attean's dog that Attean loved was given to Matt as a sign of respect because he respected Matt for staying with the cabin.  Attean would do the same.  On a scale from 1-10 I would give this book 6.5.  I liked it because Attean and Matt did lots of things together.

Sign of The Beaver is about a boy named Matt and his dad. They just built a cabin in Maine and his Dad is going to get his family in Quincy, Ma, so his dad leaves Matt in charge. While Matt is out in the woods one day he tries to get some honey from a bee hive and falls. He wakes up in his cabin and finds two Indians next to him one is named Attean and the other is named Saknis. Saknis notices that Matt could read and wanted him to teach Attean. So they negotiated a deal that Matt would teach Attean to read and Attean would catch food for Matt. During a lesson Attean showed Matt some survival skills. Every lesson  from their on Matt either read Robinson Crusoe or  was taught some survival skills. A few months after his father had left, he found a bear stuck in a trap with Attean. So Attean tribe makes it into a great feast and Matt's invited . Near Christmas Matt's father still hasn't come back. to gao with them. Matt thinks abo ut it but refuses. A few days from Christmas sake. He saw a big figure moving across it and saw his father. When his father gets back to the cabin he thanks Matt for taking of the cabin. I liked Sign of the Beaver because of how Matt survived with his friend Attean.

Sign of The Beaver is about a boy named Matt who is left in charge of a cabin he and his father had made together in Maine. Matt's mother is having a baby and Matt is told that the family would be back in seven to ten weeks and would be back before his thirteenth birthday. Matt meets an Indian boy named Attean and Matt is to teach the Indian boy how to read. In exchange, Attean shows Matt how to the Indians hunted in the woods of Maine. The boys eventually become good friends witch Matt did not think possible in the beginning of the book. It has been months now, and Matts father still hadn't returned. Matt's thirteenth birthday had past and Attean and his tribe decide to leave Maine for good and not just for the winter and the tribe invited him to go with them. Matt had the biggest life decision to make. Stay in the cabin and wait until father comes, if he ever comes. Or go with the Beaver tribe and never see my family again. Matt's decision was brave and I feel that Matt as a character really changed throughout the book. I liked sighn of the Beaver verymuch and I liked seeing Matt and Attean bond and open up to each other.

 Sign of the Beaver is a very good book with many different themes I will tell you some of these great themes. One theme is to never leave your family no matter what. This is a theme because Matt made a great disision to stay at his cabin and wait for his family not knowing if he'd them again. He stayed and saw his family after the simple question theat would have changed his life. Another theme is sometimes you have to say goodbye to a friend moving away or leaving. This is true because when he ft his friend Attean behind he always will have the memory of his friend, I liked this book a lot because there is lots of adventure and I always love a happy twist ending.

Matt's dad is going to get their family, so they could live in the house they made. Matt is 13 he is staying alone with only his father's rifle to protect the house. His dad tells him he is going to arrive just before his birthday in the fall. But when his birthday passes his family is not there. He meets Indians of the Beaver Tribe and makes a strong bond with this Indian named Attean. Months after living the life with Indians. Matt has to decide if he wants to go south and live with the Indians, or stay there a wait for his parents. He chooses to be loyal and wait for his family. Soon after the Indians leave his family arrives at the house. I like this book because it was very thrilling.

 The story Sign of the Beaver is about a boy named surviving in the wild while his father is going out to get the rest of the family.  So the father and the rest of the family is suppose to before his birth day.A couple days later he meets an Indian from the Beaver Tribe .  After a while he becomes friends with Attean.  A Month after he has to decide if he wants to  go of with the Indians or stay home and wait for his  family. It is the hardest decision he has ever made. I liked this book because it has action, adventure, and it is a cliff hanger.

The Tiger Rising is about a boy named Rob. Rob's mom died and since his mother died he had a suitcase that he locked and he never opened it. The suitcase had his feelings in it. There was two boys named Billy and Norton that always bullied Rob. One day when he was on the bus going to school the bus stopped and a girl walked on the bus with a pretty pink fancy dress. Her name was Sistine. Sistine didn't like Rob. Before school was over the principal said Rob wasn't allowed to go to school until his legs got better. Robs legs looked weird and other kids thought he had something contagious. Sistine sat with Rob on the bus because there was nowhere else to sit. Rob told Sistine about his legs and she wanted to get it so she didn't have to go to school. the next day Rob told his father about it and he worked and cleaned The Kentucky Star, The Kentucky Star is the motel that Rob lives at. Sistine brought Rob his homework. Later on Rob saw the tiger. The next day when Sistine came he told her. Beauchamp the owner of the Kentucky Star told Rob to take care of the Tiger. Rob told Sistine that he had the keys and He is Deciding if he should let the tiger go.

Frindle by Andrew Clements

The book is about a kid named Nick.  He just began the sixth grade.  He didn't want the teacher called Mrs. Granger.  Nick asked a question to Mrs. Granger that she told him to research.  Nick went to a store and asked for a frindle which was really a pen.  Nick won the war.  Now everyone calls a pen a frindle.  I liked this book because a kid got a new word in the dictionary.

Frindle is about a boy who makes a new word.  A teacher Mrs. Granger is very mad at him and makes kids stay after a lot.  They make them write I will use the word pen instead of Frindle 100 times but the kids didn't write pen.  Mrs. Granger didn't notice.  I liked the book because Nick Allen was brave.

Frindle is a very good book.  It is a book about Nicholas Allen.  He invents a new word.  The new word is Frindle.  It replaces the word pen.  Mrs. Granger, the teacher likes the idea but she is opposing it to help Nick.  In the end Nicholas gets into a good college and ends up rich because of his new word and donates one million dollars to Mrs. Granger's scholarship.  I liked the book because it was funny.  It was very nice.  It was a good book.

The Tiger Rising is about Rob Horton. The story is set Florida. Rob has a big secret. He knows were there is a tiger. He has a friend name Sistine. Sistine is new in Florida. Rob and his dad live in a hotel called The Kentucky Star. The owner of the hotel is Beuchamp. Beuchamp is the owner of the tiger. Beuchamp asked Rob if he would feed the tiger. Rob said  yes. Beuchamp told Rob that he wasn't allowed to tell anyone about the tiger. Finally when Rob felt the urge to tell someone he told Sistine. Sistine wanted to set the tiger free but Rob knew he couldn't. Rob finally let her have her way and set the tiger free. When the tiger got out Rob's dad shot the tiger so it wouldn't hurt Rob. Rob finally let all his emotions out and made his dad say his mothers name. At the very end Rob and Sistine had a funeral for it and buried him.

He just sits there and lets them hurt him. Rob has a talent. He can carve beautiful things out of wood.   He goes into the forest and finds a tiger in a cage. Then one day, he meets Sistine. She used to be mean but when she started to be friends with Rob we see her good side. Her parents are divorced. When people bully her, she fights back unlike Rob. Rob shows her the tiger. Once she saw it, she decided she wants to let it free. The tiger turns out to be the owner of the motel's who is called Beauchamp. He tells Rob to feed the tiger and he then gives him the keys to the cage. Rob uses the keys to let the tiger free. But the tiger runs to the hotel and tries to attack people. Rob's father shoots it. But after it all happened, Rob was starting to let the feelings come out of his suitcase. I think this is a very good book and it is very descriptive. It was very interesting.

Rob is happy because he knew that the rash won't clear up, and the principal doesn't. Rob becomes friends with Sistine and she brings him his work that he misses in school. Rob tells her about the tiger,and takes her to it. She wants ton let the tiger free but they didn't have the keys. One day,when Rob was cleaning the sidewalk Beauchamp the owner of the motel tells Rob to come with him for a ride. He tells Rob that he owned a tiger. He took Rob to the tiger. He asks Rob to feed the tiger everyday. He gives him the keys. When Rob tells Sistine she said to let him free. Rob finally agrees to let it free. When he let the tiger go he finds that  it's dead. His father killed it. When Rob sees the tiger he lets all his feelings out of his suitcase. I liked this book because it was descriptive and interesting.

Daniel Corrigan just moved to the humble town of Noble Green but it's not so humble as he thinks. There are some kids who can fly,have super strength and even can turn invisible but there is a haunted that on their thirteenth birthday they lose their powers.

I recommend this book to readers that like mysteries,superheros and adventure.

Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner

It was a good book but I didn't like the part at the end when Searchlight dies. I didn't like when little Willy thought it was a happy ending but then Searchlight dies and it is not a happy ending.  My favorite character in the book is Searchlight because he is a strong dog and takes care of the family when something bad happens like when the grandfather is sick.  I think Stone Fox was being nice because he let Little Willy win and I was surprised about that because before when Little Willy went in the barn Stone Fox punched him in the eye and in the book when they were talking about Stone Fox I first thought he was a mean man.  I liked the mayor a lot and Doc a lot because they were generous people and they were giving tips to Little Willy.

I liked the book. It was action packed. Little Willy's love for Seachlight was strong. Seachlight loved Little Willy too. Searchlight was super fast at the race. I thought the fact that Seachlight's heart burst was very sad. Stone Fox must have thought that since Searchlight died he must have thought it would be horrible for one of his dogs to die and because of that he thought that Little Willy should win the race.

Treasure Hunters by James Patterson

Treasure Hunters is about four kids who's names are Bick, Beck, Tommy, and Storm. Bick and Beck are twins. Sometimes they get into fights that they call "Twin Tirades." It only lasts for a short time. Their dad was lost at sea in a storm and their mom was kidnapped in a place called Cyprus. Since they have no parents, the kids agree that they should continue the family treasure hunting business.  Bick and Beck decide that they should go into "The Room." The Room is a space where their parents  kept all the maps and artifacts. It is off limits to the kids. Once they got in, they saw a to-do-list that their dad had written. They went to the Grand Caymans and traded with a guy name Louie Louie. They continued to follow their dad's to-do list. The kids figured out that their parents worked for the CIA and also for a notorious dealer named Athos Aramis who gives weaponry to scoundrels. But they only pretended to work for him just to capture him.The kids found clues along the way. They finally defeated Athos Aramis and went back to their boat. The kids still didn't find their parents but they will keep looking for them.

Bick, Beck, Tommy, and Storm are treasure hunters.  There mom went missing and their dad fell off the boat in a storm and they are trying to find them.  The kids went to go to Mr. Aramis's house because they wanted to tell him that the vase isn't worth anything without the papers. They have to go through all these missions to try and find their parents.

I liked this book because it was an adventure story and it had a lot of action.  I am going to read the second book in the series because I liked it so much.

When they were all alone in the boat The Lost Bick and Beck went into the room. The room is thier mom and dad's office. They found a to-do list thier mother and father planned to do in the future. Then a strange person came on a boat with a gun to tell the Kidds something. He came and towed them to the Cayman Islands. They met a man who's name was Louie Louie. He showed the Kidds a secret passage way to his basement. They saw lots of merchendice in the basement. After that they went back on The Lost and a Cayman Island Police came on a boat to see if they had their parents with them. But the Kidds outsmarted him. Then they went to Florida to find treasure underwater. They found a load of teasure. Then some pirates came onto their boat. Tried to get into the room but they couldn't get in the room. So they took Beck and then Uncle Timothy saved her. The Kidds thought he was a undercover pirate. But before Beck took a truth serum and used it on Uncle Timothy. He was really a CIA Agent. He told the Kidds that their mother and father were CIA Operatives. He was their boss. Then he got picked up by a helicopter. Then the Kidds went to Mr. Aramis's Penthouse. To tell Mr. Aramis that the vase did not cost anything without the papers. Then the Kidds try to take the vase but the guards caught them. Until Uncle Timothy came with his CIA and FBI friend and arrested Mr.Aramis for income tax evasion.

The book Treasure Hunters has four main characters. Bick, Beck, Storm, and Tommy Kidd. Tommy is the oldest. When the kidds' are sailing, there was a very bad storm. The kids were safe but when the kids came on deck their father was gone.The children are left in charge of their Uncle Timothy. But he is not actually their uncle.The kidds' later find out that their parent were CIA agents. Uncle Timothy was their boss. The kidds' go on many adventures to find out what their parents were working on, on their ship The Lost. The kidds' find out that their parents were trying to arrest a man named Athos Aramis. A man named Nathan Collier stole Grecian urn that the kids found. Nathan Collier tries to make a deal with Aramis to get a weapon, because Athos Aramis sells weapons. The Kidds barge in when they are making the deal, and Beck says that they can't do the deal without the papers. The Kidds almost get killed when Uncle Timothy comes and saves them. The CIA and FBI promis to find the Kidds mom in Cyprus. I liked this book because it had a lot of adventure.

In the begining a storm came while the kids were on a ship with their dad and the dad was trying to protect his kids.So the one kid went into a room and saved him self, and the dad might of went overboard. Their ship namelost the  get ruined, then they go to an island and get their ship fixed. then they go on  a nother adventure. On  their next adventure to find gold.


The book Tresure Hunters is about four kids the Kidd kids Bicford (Bick), Stephane (Storm) Rebbeca (Beck) and Tommy (Tailspin Tommy) sadly have both there parents pass away. With there Mom being lost in Cayman Islands and the dad falling off the side of the boat they are going through some hardships. They live on the seas looking for treasures, but without their parents on their side it's tricky for them to find the teasures.

I liked the book because it was very adventurous.

The Hundred Dresses by Eleanor Estes

The Hundred Dresses is about a girl named Wanda Petronski. Two girls named Peggy and Maddie made fun of Wanda by saying, "Wanda how many dresses did you say you had in your closet?" and she would say, "One hundred all lined up!" and they would start laughing. Wanda did not have any friends really she would stand against a brick wall and wait for the bell to ring.

 I liked this book because even though Peggy and Wanda were mean to her she was still nice to them back.

The Hundred Dresses is about a girl named Wanda and two other girls named Maddie and Peggy Wanda says that she has one hundred dresses in her closet. Maddie and Peggy  keep making fun of her. Later in the story you find out that they aren't  really dresses, they are drawings. Wanda feels that she is getting made fun of so she moves away and than Maddie and Peggy feel bad because it was their fault because they were making fun of Wanda.

Maddie is trying to tell Peggy to stop picking on Wanda for saying that she has a hundred dresses in her closet. Peggy and Maddie think that she doesn't have 100 dresses because she always wears the same blue dress.  Wanda moves away.  Peggy and Maddie feel real bad so they try to find her.  In the end they send her a letter and say they are sorry and Wanda writes back and says that they can keep the dresses.

I liked the book because I thought even though they were picking on her they learned a lesson and became nice.

The Hundred Dresses is about a girl named Wanda Petronski .She says she has a hundred dresses all lined in her closet. The girls don’t believe her and start to make fun of Wanda .Peggy started the dresses game. Maddie was Peggy's best friend and Maddie just stood there watching Peggy make fun of Wanda.  There was a contest for drawing and Wanda made a hundred dresses all lined up in the front of the class. A couple days after the class got a letter and it said Wanda moved. Also the blue dress was for Maddie and the green dress was for Peggy.  They realized that the drawing was them. That meant Wanda liked Peggy and Maddie after all.

The Series of Unfortuante Events The Wide Window

In The Wide Window the three Baudelaire children have to go live with their Aunt Josephine. One day when they were at the grocery store they met a man named Captain Sham. The Baudelaire's all knew that this man was really Count Olaf. The children tried to tell their Aunt but she kept correcting their grammatical mistakes when they spoke, so the children never got it out. One day Count Olaf called Aunt Josephine and he threatened to kill her if he didn't get the Baudelaire fortune. So she ran away and left a note. She made grammatical mistakes on purpose and the Baudelaires' noticed and it spelled Curdled Cave. The children went to Curdled Cave and brought her home but she fell in the lake and the Lachrymose leeches ate her. When the children got back to the dock the children and their families' close friend got locked in by the dock by Count Olaf, and Count Olaf ran away with his assistant. Somebody unlocked the gate but it was to late to catch Count Olaf.

Warriors into the Wild

   One day, a cat named Rusty ventures out into the woods. There he meets three wild cats that invite them to join Thunder Clan. He agrees. His clan name would now be Firepaw. The clan cats were mad that they chose a cat without warrior blood. Warriors were dying. Then the leader of the clan, Bluestar, takes Firepaw as her apprentice. He trains very hard. All that work payed off and Bluestar invited him to the Moonstone which is a special rock that gives new Clan leaders special dreams about what happens in the future. But Rusty notices something mysterious is going on about some cats and he plans to find out the truth.

My Life As A Book by Janet Tashdjean

My life as a book is a unique book because it shows the definitions on the side but in a picture. It is about a boy named Derek and he does not like to read until he learns to like reading. It is a very funny. I recommend this story to people who love humor. For me this was a great story.

They just found out both of their parents died.They also had figured out that they had to go to a relative's house. Their relative was a bad man. This book is about a girl who is eight years old and she is very smart so she is in sixth grade and nobody likes her because she is so smart.But one day at lunch she meets a boy at lunch time and not everybody likes him ether.His name is Gary and the two of them become really good friends.Her teacher's name is Mrs.Hardlike. She does not like Mrs.Hardlike but she likes Gary's teacher so she goes to Gary's teacher Mrs.Turbone and a lot of crazy stuff happens    

I would recommend this book to people who like adventure.

Two boys went over to another boy's house and they said what's the matter.  He was bouncing a tennis ball.  He said I don't like salmon so I got in trouble because I didn't eat it.  Billy says to eat a bite, it won't hurt you.  It's not a worm or something.  Allen bet $50 if Billy eats 15 worms.  It's set in the past, like the 70's.

I liked this book because it was funny.

I read Diary Of A Wimpy Kid.  It was about a kid  who got bullied a lot with his friend and one day when they were new to the school no one was on the basketball courts because there was a piece of cheese.

The Phantom Tollbooth is about a boy named Milo and one day he got a package. It told him to go to a tollbooth and it was not signed with any name on the package.Milo went to the tollbooth that day and he went through many adventures and he tried to save two princesses.

I really liked The Phantom Tollbooth because it was a little bit of a mystery and it had a lot of detail.

I recommend this book to Grace and Brandon.

This summer I read Wonder. Wonder is about boy named August or Auggie. August

 was born with a facial abnormality. He has something wrong with his face and some other things. August was home schooled until, his mom and dad enrolled him to an to a public school.

I think everybody will like this when we read this in Fourth Grade.

I Even Funnier by James Patterson

It was a really good book.  It was about a boy who travels as a comedian and he does competitions and he has dreams that he is going to do terrible because people tell him he's terrible.

Judy Moody is a series and a good one too. Judy Moody is about Judy figuring out how to solve problems that are around her. I did like it because I like the different events. I think 4th graders would like it.

The 39 Clues is about Amy and Dan Cahill racing around the world to find 39 ingredients
to the most powerful thing in the world.But obstacles stand in their way like going in to dangerous places  and getting past their opponents.

I like it because it has a lot of action and adventure.I recommend this book to good readers and people that like adventure.

Dork Diaries is like a girl version of Diary of a Wimpy kid.The  main character is Nikki and her two best friends. She is a new kid in WCD. She has a dad,mom and sister. There's  a lot of fun in this book. I really liked it. You would like it if you like Drama,crazy, and fun!

The Littles by John Peterson

The Littles is about people who are a family.  The characters are Tom, Lucy, Mrs. Little, Mr. Little, Uncle Pete, and Grammy Little.  The Bigs are Henry and Mr. and Mrs. Big.  The Bigs go on a trip and they put the house up for rent and then another family rents it and they do not take care of the house.  Tom Little killed a mouse and Grammy Little sews another one.

I loved this book because it was awesome.   I recommend this book to Chris and Akshay.

Finally by Wendy Mass

   In the book, Finally, a girl named Rory can't wait to turn 12. But when it is finally her birthday all these bad things keep happening to her. The only good thing is that a movie with her favorite star is being shot in Willow Falls. She is always getting injured and in every shot, she always looks hurt. But she always keeps a good attitude about it!

      I like this book because it is funny that she is always getting into accidents almost every day! I would recommend this book to my cousin because she loves humor in books and she loves reading new series.

The Lemonade Wars by Jacqueline Davies

The Lemonade Wars is about a a girl and a boy. It is the last week of summer and they get in a fight about something and whoever gets  more money by selling lemonade by the last day of summer wins and gets to keep however much the other person makes.

I recommend this book to any fourth grader.

Pet Wars by Allan Woodrow

This story is about a boy who wants a dog and he has a sister who wants a cat but their mom works all day and she is not an animal person. But the boy names all the good things about a dog and says that to his mom and he also said don't get a cat mom because cats smell and they are mean and scratch and their breath is rotten. The girl said hey that's not true. So then their mom said ok, whoever makes the most money first will get that pet and they all agreed. Then the boy comes outside in his pajamas. I liked this book.

Fourth Grade Fairy is about a girl named Willow. She has a mean sister named Lucinda. Willow wants to go to a Humdrum School. Humdrum means human but Willow can't go to Humdrum School because she is a fairy. Her parents said she can go to Humdrum School until you get your power. When Willow first starts to get her power she doesn't know that she has it so Willow meets this girl named Katy and that is when Willow starts to get her power. When willow was done talking to Katy Willow thought that Katy said something mean to her but she didn't. I liked this book Fourth Grade Fairy and I think you would like the book too.

Willow's birthday is coming up and every fairy usually gets their powers on their birthday but when Willow first got her power she did not know that so then for her birthday she gets a certificate to go to a Humdrum School for 2 weeks and meets this girl Katie and sees a girl named Miranda and wants to be friends with her but when she accidentally splats orange paint all over Miranda's eater because she notices a voice saying something in her ear she ruined her chance of being Miranda's friend. She is friends with Katie.

There is a school near Willow's house and her gamma is the prescribe of the school and she lets Willow go there for two weeks and Willow found out she got her power and she did not tell her mom and dad. Willow's power was that she can talk to animals.

A Tangle Of Knots is about a girl named Cady. Cady could make perfect cakes. That was her Talent. In this book Talent is with a capital T.She could make a cake that matches up with someone's personality. Cady was for adoption.Some people wanted to adopt her but Mrs.Mallory said Cady didn't match up with anyone of them. Mrs.Mallory was the adoption owner. She would match up kids with parents that wanted to adopt them. That was Mrs.Mallory's Talent. Toby is a man who got married in Africa and had a daughter. Toby's wife died and he sent his daughter to adoption. One day Toby is driving around into a adoption place where Cady was. He wanted to adopt Cady. So,he did. There is a lot of more people in this book. They are the owner, V, Marigold, Will, Zane, and Mrs. Asher. The owner wants to steal everyone's Talent in this book. V is a oboe player. Marigold is Zane and Wills sister. Will is a good hide and go seek boy. Zane is a spitter. And Mrs.Asher is Marigolds Wills.  - JN

Tangle of Knots is a book about different characters including Cady, a young orphan that has a talent for baking the perfect cake for any person. Another character is Miss. Mallory, who owns the orphanage. Her talent is matching up orphans to there perfect parents. Zane is the oldest Asher child. He has a talent for spitting. He is the trouble making type of kid. Next is Marigold, who plays the oboe, (not as good as V) and has not found her talent yet, but tries very hard to every day. Will is a 6-year old boy that has a talent for getting lost.   -MMD

Tangle Of Knots is about all of these orphans that have talents but The Owner tries to take them. Cady always tries to get to know the person that she is baking a cake for it is her method to find out the best cake for their personality. no one wants the owner to steel Cady's talent So in a baking when The Owner came to Steel Cady's talent with the ice they everyone tried to stop him. Cady has been in the Orphanage the longest people adopted her and then didn't want her anymore. Cady doesn't know why she tries to act her best when she get adopted but for some strange reason she cant until a man named Toby comes and adopts her for life.I like how all of the characters stick together and help everyone. I like how the book switched between every persons point of view so you get to know how every character felt except The Owner. I think they should do it from The Owner's point of view so we could know why The Owner wanted the talents I would give this book eight stars.  - RT

Cady is entering the baking contest and is sure she will win because of her great talent for baking. But when Cady and Toby find out something interesting about there relationship and the Owner does something sneaky, things change.- MM

The Real Boy by Anne Ursu

I think the real boy is a little boring in the beginning but then it makes up for that when the book gets to the middle and end. If I wrote this book I would make it more interesting,exciting, and be more cool. If I could talk to the author I would tell him to make the book better. I like this book a little because it has monsters and magic. If I rated this book from one through ten I would choose three and a half or four. I would choose this because I don't think this book is very interesting. But I like it a little.   - TS

The Real Boy is about a boy named Oscar who is normal but he lives with the most powerful magician in the island. Caleb. Caleb's apprentice wolf is mean to Oscar and picks on him. SPOILER ALERT he dies. Then when Caleb leaves for a long time Oscar makes a friend named Callie. Callie tells Oscar many kids are getting sick. since Oscar is good with magic plants he goes with Callie to the village to help the kids. They can't find out whats wrong so they leave. Then Oscar and Caleb fight this dirt monster. Oscar is safe Caleb is not. SPOILER ALERT dies. Oscar finds out how do kill the monster. To kill it with magic. Once he does the island stops using magic. The begging is really bad the ending is really good.SPOILER ALERT the city kids are made of wood. -A.G.S   

The Real Boy is about a boy named Oscar who is a magicians hand. Oscar makes herbs for Celeb ( the magician) and his shop. The shop sells protective magic and lucky magic. Wolf Caleb's apprentice is really mean to Oscar sometimes. But one day Caleb leaves the shop to go on secret business and wolf leaves on an urgent mission, so Oscar is left alone. After a while Oscar get's  worried because Wolf should be back until Master Thomas comes in and says ( SPOILER ALERT ) Wolf dies. Then Oscar goes to Caleb's herb replenishment with Callie the Healer's apprentice and sees that SPOILER ALERT Caleb's Glass Houses are destroyed. After that Oscar and Callie are trying to find out about the plauglands which is the thing that almost killed everyone is spreading into the City. And find out that all the city children are getting sick from it. Oscar and Callie work on almost all the kids to make them better.   - TB

The Real Boy is about a boy named Oscar who is trying save the magic from all of the bad things in it like the monster that destroyed the glass house. He is trying to save the wizard trees that Oscar's boss Caleb SPOILER ALERT cut down. Oscar goes to try to save the wizard tree by getting a sack filled with magic thing and feeds it to the ground. The ground kept wanting more until Oscar ran out of food. When he ran out the monster that destroyed the glass houses came out and was chasing Oscar all the way threw the plaguelands. He ran all the way to the end of the plagueland, and there was the ocean. Oscar never seen the ocean before and he thought it looked scary to Oscar, but anyway he jumped in the monster was still chasing him so the monster was in the water. When the monster was in the water the waves were pulling it apart. He was so happy when the monster was gone. - M.R

Keeping Score is about a girl named Maggie and her dad who was once a fire fighter but he was in an accident. He was working at the front deck and Maggie came to the fire house every day. Maggie had a lot of friends at the fire house but the fire house was getting a new fireman to replace her dad. Everyone in the fire house loved the Dodgers. But the new person Jim was not a Dodgers fan. Jim and Maggie were friends but Jim had some big news. He was going into the army. The fire house was have a going away party but Jim had to go early. I liked this book a lot because my Papa was in the war and this book tells you about it.

The Heart of a Samurai  is about a Japanese boy named Manjiro who is on a small fishing boat with four other Japanese fisherman. They get caught in a huge storm and their boat brakes. They go to a nearby island and an American vessel comes and gets the boys. Manjiro becomes good friends with the captain and the captain asks him two things. You can stay on the boat with the captain and go and live with him in America or Manjro and his fiends could get off at the next stop. Manjro decides to stay on the ship and his friends will go and live on the island. When he gets home with Captain Whitfield he starts school. All the people are making fun of him except for two kids, Terry and Job. Manjiro goes on another ship and Terry and him go to find gold in California and then he does he goes and gets his friends and goes home to Japan.

Someone who likes historical fiction would really like this book.

Shiloh Season by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Shiloh Season is about a boy named Marty who worked hard for this dog named Shiloh. Then when they got home Dara Lynn, Becky, and Marty plays hide and seek. Becky got lost and they found her. A few weeks later Judd (the mean guy) dog get loose and bites Becky. She got bit by one of his dogs. Another few weeks later Judd's drinking heavier that night and gets into a accident. And Marty notices that Shiloh is the one who saved him. The next day at school everybody's talking about it. Everyone tried to help Judd to heal and get better. Oscar and Thomas both liked Shiloh Season more than the first book because it had more action and it was more exciting.

     Mackenzie Blue is a great book if you like teenage reality. The main character is Mackenzie who is a sweet likes to get in people's business.
     This book about a girl named Mackenzie (her nick name is Zee) who just starts upper school.
    Zee's best friend Ally moves away to Paris and now it is even harder for Zee because she is going to a new school without her best friend. Meanwhile when Zee starts school she finds 2 friends named Jasper and Chloe.
   When Zee loses her diary she accuses her friend Chloe but she doesn't know if it is really her. When Zee finds out it wasn't her there is a big disagreement.
    If you likes books that are teenage reality you will love this book.  I liked this book because it had a lot of descriptive feelings and I could picture everything that happened in my head. That's why I liked this book so much.    by M.D.

Tiger Rising is about a boy named Rob. Rob is a nice boy who is very caring.  Rob is in love with a tiger he found in the woods.  But Rob is afraid that the tiger will be taken away, Rob will do anything to keep that tiger safe.
 
If you like the book Shiloh you will like this book because it shows the connection between the tiger and Rob. I liked this book because it had a lot of description in it.
 

Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo

This book is about a boy named Rob and he takes care of this tiger. The whole story starts out when Rob is going on the school bus and he sees this tiger. He goes back home and goes to bed. The next day the tiger is in a cage in his back yard. Rob goes to school and on the bus he meets this girl Sistine. They become friends and Sistine comes home with Rob. They feed the tiger meat very quickly because they don't want to get attacked by it. They meet these people Willie May and Beauchamp. Willie May and Beauchamp help Sistine and Rob with the tiger. They never leave it alone, they just help it and they enjoy it. I think people that like some action would like this book.

I loved this book.  It was really good.  I recommend it to kids who like adventure and survival books.

Treasure Hunters

Treasure Hunters is about 4 kids who have no mom or dad. They go on many cool adventures like meeting strange people,beach bullies,and scubadiving ninjas. They have to survive against robbbers, criminals,and hard punches !!!!! the 4 kids become rich beyond there wildest dreams !!!

I liked this book because the kids had to survive.  I recommend book to people who like action and finding treasure.

Wonderstruck is about a boy named Ben who lives in Gunflint Lake, Minnesota. He lives with his aunt and uncle and a brother Robby. He goes to his mothers old house and he finds a locket and a book called Wonderstruck. He opens the locket and there is a picture of someone.Then he reads the book and he finds a note and an address and a phone number he finds out that the photo is of his dad. He calls his dad and then he gets stuck by lightning and he becomes deaf. He goes to New York to see his dad and finds out hes dead. But in New York he finds a frreind and his grandmother.

So Hugo had to take care of the clocks and the automaton in the train station were Hugo lives. Hugo has no money so he has to work with an old man called Geoges Milies. One day Hugo finds out that Georges Milies is a movie maker of his fathers favorite movie A Trip To The Moon. So then Hugo made friends with Isabelle Georges daughter and got to live with all them. the Theme of this book is to never stop trying.
